03Sept2014_1c_Wine-MeetUp_Flatbread_Robin_GoodSqlaw? What is that? Acually it is a roasted spaghetti squash slaw, thus Sqlaw. Here is the recipe for the Sqlaw. It is also in the recipe file above.
But, before you can have a sandwich or a full meal, one must have some type of appetizer. Here are two that Robin found online and the recipe link is posted with the photo. Which one do we like best? Well, maybe if you come to maybe the November Treasure Valley Wine Society tasting in November, you just may have the opportunity to try our favorite. We really did enjoy and like all of these offerings. Try them. Let us know what you think. Cheers!

We had two awesome dinners over the weekend. Grilled Lamb Chops marinated in fresh rosemary, fresh mint and fresh oregano, olive oil and salt and pepper. (That’s pretty much our standard marinade for lamb chops!) They were awesome. And then we made a bruschetta with an avocado and garlic spread. (The bruschetta was toasted Acme Bake Shop Red Wheat bread) Mash two cloves of garlic and mix with 1/2 avocado mashed. This makes a great tapas selection. Served that with a wonderful bowl of Coconut Shrimp Soup. Great dinners! Here, look at the photos. Enjoy!

28Dec2013_1_Foodie-MeetUp-Bonovino_Card-FrontOn December 28, the Boise Foodie Meet-Up group – see their link in the sidebar – visited Bodovino Wine Bar (an excellent website!) and the experience was a good one. Good food, really good service and a unique venue. You purchase a “card” with some dollar amount, and then you can visit up to 144 different wines (see photos below) and get whatever wine you desire and whatever amount you wish, 1oz, 3oz or 5oz. Each wine and each amount has a different price and they range from $1.00 to $12.00 (the highest I found).
The tapas that we had was very good. A nice selection of cheese, pasta (pizza) and antipasti. They have a full selection of menu items, including salads and sliders, and all seem to be reasonably priced. Overall – a good experience. I will rate them 4-Stars out of 5-Stars. The room that we were in, there are several, was very noisy and loud. Otherwise, good. We will probably return. Please enjoy these photos. You will get some idea of the ambiance and of the tapas. Cheers!!

20Oct2013_1_Boise-Farmers-Market-Fall-Fundraiser_Bag-LogoYes, even The New Boise Farmers Market must have funds to operate. And since it is not privately funded, the funds must come from the public sector. That’s you and me!! So Robin and I did attend. It was held at the Purple Sage Farms outside of Middleton, ID. A beautiful Fall day as you can tell from some of these photos.
Robin and I try very hard to eat local products and we are totally committed to the “Buy Idaho” and “Support You Local Farmers” programs. We are at the New Boise Farmers Market every Saturday and we will follow them indoors on November 2, 2013 to their winter home at the Fulton Street (Boise) location. So we were very pleased when we got the opportunity to attend this gala event at the Purple Sage Farms. Enjoy these photos and please, please support your local farmers. From the New Boise Farmers Market web page,

Vision: The Boise Farmers Market is a community marketplace where local food and agricultural products are available year round and where the community can learn about and become engaged in food system issues. The Market is a catalyst and incubator for local food-related activities in the region, and helps to build personal and community self-reliance.

Mission: The Boise Farmers Market supports a regenerative, healthy food and agricultural system by operating a vibrant marketplace featuring locally grown and crafted products.

French Tapas At Le Café de Paris

03 Friday Jun 2011

Posted by Bob and Robin in Party Time, Photos, Photos By: Bob Young, Tapas, Things To Do, What's For Dinner?

A great night at Le Café de Paris in Boise at the French Tapas Night. It really was a celebration night and it was good to have Maize and Margaret and Susan with us. Mac – pictured to the left – did not make it to the party with us. But he did have some awesome Grilled Buffalo with Sauce Diane and Morel Mushrooms, Baked Potato with Fresh Chives and Sour Cream and Grilled Purple Asparagus Raft with Balsamic Vinegar. He didn’t go hungry! My only problem is that I did not take a photo of all of the tapas! What a dumb mistake. I’ll just have to go back to the next party or First Thursday Night at Le Café de Paris to make up for this monumental blunder. Such penance. (Mathieu – did you get the Huckleberry Jam and Perrine magnet that we left?) In the meantime, here are some photos that I did get. Enjoy!

A Côtes du Provence Rosé that was excellent!

2006 Château Plo Du Roy that was superb with our tapas. A good blend of 70% Sirah and 30% Grenache. Everyone enjoyed it.

POMME de TERRE en CROUTE
potato puff pastry, melted leek puree, toasted truffle parmesan

SALADE de BETTERAVES
bruléed beets, seared arugula, mustard vinaigrette

BRAISES QUICHE NAVET
braised turnip, marinated eggplant, tarragon crème fraiche

ESCARGOTS au CHAMPAGNE
caramelized mushroom, garlic confit

CASSOULET de CANARD
elk sausage, pearl onions

FUME MAISON UNIQUE
house smoked sole, oven-dried tomato fried capers

An awesome Muscat that was superb with the dessert.

DESSERT TAPA
TARTE TATIN de PECHE
house made chantilly

Pear Tarte
We are never allowed to leave without taking home some fresh made breakfast. In this case, a great breakfast pear dessert. No, not a chocolate croissant or something just as tempting. But nonetheless, just as good! Great with a fresh brewed El Pico coffee.

Earlier in this in in another blog, I posted a lead-in article about Tapas At Le Café de Paris. It was a great evening and Barbara Herrick joined us. I talked to Mathieu and told him that this was probably one of the best tapas events that he has held. And it was awesome! Here are some photos of the tapas night. Robin is posing in festive Cinco de Mayo costume at the Boise City Hall Fountain. Enjoy!

We shared with Mathieu and his Staff, some Lemon Huckleberry Curd that is made here in the Boise area. It is really good on the bread.

2002 Monte Dos Cabaços ($25.99, 14% alc) table wine that went extremely well with our tapas. We also had a glass of NV Esporã Reserva White ($30.99).

Clams Alentejo
linguica sausage, cilantro, peas, wine
Gazpacho
Salmão Ahumada
smoked salmon, arugula, pears, capers, tomato dijon-vinaigrette

Queijo de Portugual

Bifanas
marinated pork tenderloin
Camarroes piri piri
