If you are looking for places to eat in Boise, this should help you find some restaurants in Boise and in the surrounding area – at least some of them – that we have visited and liked. There is a large variety. I will not rate them here, but to make this list, the restaurant will have to rate 3-Stars or higher. 5-Stars is the highest. Absolutely nothing wrong with 3-Stars! Most of these restaurants have their own websites where you can get more information. On some of the posts, too, you will find a link called Blog Post:. Three menus are available on their webpage, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. It is extremely difficult to get a good meatloaf when you are away from home, but their’s is absolutely wonderful. And they have great breakfasts also. If you are visiting the Idaho Wine Country, stop in here to eat. You can also get some awesome Idaho wine. Ok. It’s really a great thing when you come across a restaurant, such as Sakana Japanese Sushi and Steak House in Boise, and it severely challenges your benchmark Asian restaurant, Sushi Joy and Shige Japanese Cuisine. Yes. Sakana is that restaurant and it rates, now, as our benchmark with a solid 5-Star sushi/sashimi/Japanese cuisine. It is superb! The Wait Staff is kind and extremely helpful. The sushi chef, Xing, is from China and his talent is awesome. A wide range of Japanese dishes such as Hibachi, Bento Box, sushi and sashimi (which is superb!), tempuira, teriyaki and the list goes on. It is well worth your trip to go there. They are located at 7107 W State Street, Garden City. (208) 853-4993 and they are open Mon – Thursday: 11:00am – 10:00pm, Friday and Saturday: 11am – 11pm, Sunday: 12 noon – 9pm. This is probably one of the best stand alone Chinese restaurants in town. They are a sit down restaurant, not a buffet. And they serve only Chinese foods.
Basque

Visit The Melting Pot in Boise Not really a Bistro, but the ambiance and food will make for a fun dinner or Happy Hour. Good food with a fun presentation. And yes, the kids are welcome! 4-Star restaurant in Boise. And here is a link to their extensive Fondue Menu. Check it out! More importantly, I think, is “just what is a fondue?”
According to the Cambridge dictionary, “a hot dish prepared by keeping a container of either hot oil or melted cheese over a flame at the table and putting pieces of meat in the oil to be cooked or pieces of bread into the cheese.”

They serve and wide range of pub fare from awesome burgers, fries, salads and other delicious items. The original pub, and brewery, are in Bend, Oregon. There is also a location in Portland, Oregon.

St Lawrence Gridiron. a good pub in downtown Boise, ID, 705 W Bannock St,(208) 433-5598. Monday – Thursday, 11 – 11, Friday 11 – Midnight, Saturday 9:30am – 12am, Sunday, 9:30am – 9pm, Brunch On Weekends 9:30am-2pm. A great patio area weather permitting. They do their own smoking of brisket and turkey and I hear it is outstanding. They also try very hard to source their products locally. The Drink Waterfront Bar and Grill. Located at 3000 North Lakeharbor Lane, Boise, ID (208) 853-5070. Their menu consists of such items as seafood, salads, homemade soups, sandwiches and wraps, burgers, fish and chips and desserts. Try them out for a unique experience on the Tiki Dock where you can eat “on the lake”. There are three distinct dining areas and the Tiki Dock is but one.
Buffets
City Buffet, a Chinesse buffet. They are located at 8049 W Fairview Ave, Boise (208) 888-8897. Hours of operation: Monday – Thursday and Sunday 11:00am – 9:30pm, Friday and Saturday 11:00am – 10:00pm. Call them for Take-Out orders. Here is Their Menu. This is a full buffet and you probably won’;t go away hungry. They do have lobster on the buffet at times.
Golden Corral. Authentic and delicious Drive-In cuisine with outdoor seating – covered in winter – available at the State Street location. Mostly indoor at the Park Center location. Family-run traditional Indian eatery with specialty dishes and a lunch buffet served in a homey space. Our initial published review said, “A really superb Indian restaurant in Boise. The food is prepared fresh and is not “canned”. The aromas and flavors take me back to when I was in India in 1955. Loved it!” Others have said, “Today was our first time eating the lunch buffet at the Bombay, and it was the best meal I’ve ever had in my life! Truly quality Indian cuisine. Everything was exquisite, tender, and full of flavor. The lamb was especially delicious. I wished I could’ve made more room in my tummy, because my mouth wasn’t finished when I got full! Probably hands down the best eating experience I’ve ever had!”

Overall, a good visit and meal at da Vinci’s Italian in Eagle, ID. They are located at 190 E State Street, Eagle, ID. (208) 939-2500. They are open 7 days a week from 4:00pm – 10:00pm. Overall good flavors in the food and good wines. My only negative comment is that there seemed to be an overuse of salt. Things were salty. All is prepared fresh and daily. A little out of the way, but if you are in the Snake River Wine Country, it might be a good place to stop for some good Mexican food. But don’t be prepared for opulence and high class surroundings. You won’t get it. What you will get is some awesome food.
