FirePiePizza_logoSuch a great Idaho afternoon with great Idaho pizza and some great Idaho wines from Houston Winery in Caldwell, Idaho – it was their Merlot release party. Superb Merlot was released today and it is well worth buying some. It went very well with the Fire Pie Pizza made by Jamie and Kitty Martin of Hagerman, ID. (See their link in the sidebar.) If you are looking for a treat at your next party, be it family or work, try Firepiepizza! Fresh made. Local products – and you know how I am with Buying Local – cooked in a fire oven. They will make any kind of pizza that you want, providing they have the supplies on hand. Enjoy these photos of the afternoon. Cheers!

28Dec2013_1_Foodie-MeetUp-Bonovino_Card-FrontOn December 28, the Boise Foodie Meet-Up group – see their link in the sidebar – visited Bodovino Wine Bar (an excellent website!) and the experience was a good one. Good food, really good service and a unique venue. You purchase a “card” with some dollar amount, and then you can visit up to 144 different wines (see photos below) and get whatever wine you desire and whatever amount you wish, 1oz, 3oz or 5oz. Each wine and each amount has a different price and they range from $1.00 to $12.00 (the highest I found).
The tapas that we had was very good. A nice selection of cheese, pasta (pizza) and antipasti. They have a full selection of menu items, including salads and sliders, and all seem to be reasonably priced. Overall – a good experience. I will rate them 4-Stars out of 5-Stars. The room that we were in, there are several, was very noisy and loud. Otherwise, good. We will probably return. Please enjoy these photos. You will get some idea of the ambiance and of the tapas. Cheers!!

19Dec2013_2_Wine-Meetu=Up-Tastings_Trey-BuschTwo of the Boise Wine Meet-up Groups met this past Wednesday. The first group met at Tastings Wine Bar in Boise with Trey Busch, pictured here, of Slight of Hand Winery from Walla Robin and I took these with her phone. Walla, Washington doing the presentation of his wines. As I did not have my camera with me, Robin and I took these photos with her phone. Left-Click any of these photos to see enlarged. Then after this tasting, we went to the 13th Street Pub and Grill for the second tasting and some substantial food.

19Dec2013_1a_W@ine-Meetu=Up-13th-St-PubAndGrill_Pub-LightsThey had the interior of the pub all decorated out for the Holiday Season. It was nice sitting around the fire that was situated in the center of the room and seating on all four sides. Definitely warm! In order to keep the wine cool, we placed a glass of ice water between the wine and the fire. The two glasses were touching. Yes, it does work! Enjoy these photos, even though some of them are a little “artsy”. Cheers!

Silverware, A Menu and A Glass of Wine

Silverware, A Menu and A Glass of Wine

Such a good wine dinner tonight. Somewhat different. A good change. Comparing Old World wines with New World wines. Just to let everyone know, the monthly coupons are now on sale at the Buzz. These are prepaid coupons so you pay for 5 dinners and get one free. Robin and I always get some. And, Cristi told us all that she must raise the price starting in January. It will go from $15 a plate, to $20 a plate. Wine amounts and dinner courses will be the same. And in January? Asian food and wines that go with that style of cooking and food. Who is the Chef? Why our very own Chef Tommy Takeda! Yea! Let’s all get out and support Tommy in this endeavor, but I know he will do a great job. Here is what we had at this dinner. Enjoy!

July Events For "the Buzz"

02 Friday Jul 2010

Posted by Bob and Robin in Things To Do, What's For Dinner?, Wine and Food, Wine Tasting

I think July will prove to be an inventive month for Tom and Cristi at the Buzz. Here is their latest bulletin. Enjoy and see you at the Buzz! Notice and Bistro below!

…from Buzz Coffee and Wine (and Bistro)

Well, we have made it into the summer and now the fun truly begins. We hope that everyone who is heading out of town this weekend is safe and sane (or at least safe).

But if you are hanging out in Boise do we have a great month planned for everyone. At the Buzz on July 2 and July 3rd we will enjoy the music of Wendy Mattson and the Dynamite Wines of California. We will also be starting with some of our new dinner menu items, as the weekend passes we will be introducing more and more of our new menu. The big opening night for our new menu is July 5th at 4PM. For our regular customers and their friends see the attached coupon for an extra added value these first few days of the new and improved Buzz Bistro.

Also, do not forget the wine club this month is July 13 or 14 at 6:30 P.M. Reservations required. July will focus on Semillion and Grenache.

We are continuing to “work” our way through the clues in the Murder by Malbec mystery series, it is not too late to join, call or stop in with any questions.

Last but not least Forgeron Cellars will be joining us at the Buzz on July 25th for a BBQ and Wine Dinner. Further information will be coming next week regarding the Forgeron dinner. For reservations or questions contact us at 344-4321 or buzzwine@cableone.net.
Again we wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July. Thanks for everything

Sincerely,
Cristi and Tom Takeda
