Always good food! And good wine! And good visits. But then, I am extremely biased. Definitely a solid 5-Star restaurant and superb Wait Staff. You can always see what they are doing by looking at – and following – Snake River AVA Happenings and their page Parma Ridge Winery and Bistro Information. It is a good idea, and sometimes extremely necessary, Sunday brunch for example, to make reservations. Parma Ridge Winery, 24509 Rudd Road, Parma ID, 83660. 208-946-5187. Here is their website: www.parmaridge.wine. So what did we have for dinner? (Left-Click any of these photos to see them enlarged.)

Robin enjoys the Bistro

Wonderful, fresh made Cream of Mushroom Soup. They also have Storm’s Northwest Clam Chowder which is super!

We also tried Chicken Tortilla Soup, which is not on the menu yet.

Robin had the Filet Mignon, which was awesome.

I had the Ribeye Steak, which is also superb.

Avielle Rosé of Merlot, a good breakfast wine

Late Harvest Riesling. These are both new releases.

Chocolate Bread Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream. Oh yum!

Wow! Just a superb meal. You really need to go sometime. Just Call First!

I did mention to Stephanie that Robin and I have probably had close to all of the items offered on the menu. We have never had a bad selection, but there are some we prefer! The Parma Ridge Bistro is definitely a 5-Star winery bistro in the Snake River AVA.

31jan2017_2_3-horse-ranch_bella-aquila_frontBella Aquila Restaurante in Eagle, ID sponsored the 3 Horse Ranch Vineyards wine dinner. A full 6 course dinner was served with as many 3 Horse Vineyards wines. The participation was superb and the crowd enjoyed themselves. It was good to see the Cunninghams again – it has been a while. They are the owners of the winery. Also they have added Brandon St-Martin to their staff as the winery manager. Just look at this menu. (You can Left-Click any of these photos to see them enlarged.)

Parma Ridge Restaurant, Parma Ridge Winery

22July2016_1_Parma-Ridge-Friday_Robin_Nikon-BestWe’ve not been out to Parma Ridge Winery and Restaurant for their Friday Happy Hour until last night. Glad we went. They are very busy, so if you have a crowd of more than four, it’s best to call ahead. The patio is open and a large part of it is covered. The patio is open! Wonderful sunny and warm day.The menu may also be somewhat different than the Saturday or Sunday Brunch menus. Check the link above for the available menus or look at This Weekend at Parma Ridge to see the menu varieties for at least one of the weekends. Whenever you go, and I highly suggest this 5-Star winery and restaurant, you will be treated to some awesome wines and definitely some awesome food as prepared by Chef Storm and Sous Chef Megan. The Staff in the restaurant has grown! They have added Sous Chef Megan and service Staff. Our server Tammy was excellent. Thank-You! Here is some of the Happy Hour food that was at our table. We did not eat all of this as Fred and Dottie Christensen joined us. Good to see friends there. Enjoy! We did.

Storm's Deluxe Burger - $8.95 Beef Patty with American cheese and Old-School Diner Sauce served with Fresh Cut Truffle Fries Fred had this.

Chicken Pesto Sandwich – $9.95
Grilled Chicken and Homemade Pesto with Prosciutto and melted Swiss Cheese on a Toasted Ciabatta Bun with Fresh Cut Truffle Fries

Fred had this.

Poached Pear

Parma Ridge Pear Salad – $8.95, with Grilled Chicken $11.95
Mixed greens with apple cider vinaigrette, Bleu Cheese and Poached Pear with Grilled Bread

Dottie had this. The salad is huge!

One-Inch Cut Char-Grilled Ribeye Steak - $16.95 Topped with Bleu Cheese Butter and accompanied by Rosemary Truffle Mashed Potatoes with Cabernet Beef Demi-Glace, Grilled Asparagus and Storm's Homemade Grilled Bread

One-Inch Cut Char-Grilled Ribeye Steak – $16.95
Topped with Bleu Cheese Butter and accompanied by Rosemary Truffle Mashed Potatoes with Cabernet Beef Demi-Glace, Grilled Asparagus and Storm’s Homemade Grilled Bread

Robin had this and took half of it home! It is a large portion.

Storm’s Famous Salmon - $16.95 Brined, Lightly Smoked and Pan Fried with Rosemary Truffle Butter and Rosemary Truffle Mashed Potatoes accompanied by Grilled Asparagus Storm's Homemade Grilled Bread

Storm’s Famous Salmon – $16.95
Brined, Lightly Smoked and Pan Fried with Rosemary Truffle Butter and Rosemary Truffle Mashed Potatoes accompanied by Grilled Asparagus Storm’s Homemade Grilled Bread

This is what I had. Delicious and moist!

We did have wine. A wonderful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that paired wonderfully with asparagus. (Robin tried the newest rage of vanilla ice cream in red wine. She tried it with this blend. Wasn’t bad! If you like Guinness and Ice Cream you will probably like this.) And then we had some –

2015 Chardonnay, $16.50
Fargo Farms – Snake River Valley
Everything you would expect from the terroir of the area, this dry Chardonnay is made with Chardonnay grapes from Fargo Farms and a touch of Gewürztraminer from Parma Ridge Vineyards. This wine has been created to preserve the intense flavors and aromas without any manipulation. Hints of grapefruit and rosemary compliment the tart finish to be enjoyed any time of the year.

2015 Dry Riesling, $16.50
Fargo Farms – Snake River Valley
Made with 100% Riesling, this dry wine features melon with citrus notes and touches of honey crisp apple. This smooth wine is a perfect complement creamy pasta and sharp cheeses. This also pared very well with asparagus. Hard to find a wine that pares well with asparagus or artichoke and maybe avocado.

Such a great evening at the winery and restaurant. Definitely 5-Stars!!!

03Nov2015_1g_Richards-Cafe-Vicino_SpoonActually, this restaurant used to be Cafe Vicino’s. Now it is known as Richard’s Cafe Vicino, owned and operated by Chef Richard Langston. It is a superb place to go. Every bit a 5-Star restaurant. Great date night or special occasion restaurant. The food and the service is superb. We were there for the South by Southwest Wine Dinner, featuring wines from Cinder Winery. Winemaker Melanie Krause and Joe Schnerr were both there to describe and talk about the wines. Here is what we had. Enjoy! We did. Left-Click any of these photos to see them enlarged.

HellsCanyonWineryLogoThis word just in from Hells Canyon and Zhoo Zhoo Wineries in the Snake River AVA.
Zhoo_Zhoo_Logo_JPG
“Hells Canyon Winery/Zhoo Zhoo Holiday Wine Dinner
at The Dish

The Robertson family from Hells Canyon Winery/Zhoo Zhoo will be teaming up with The Dish (205 N. 10th St., Boise) for a holiday winemaker’s dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m.

Chef Jered Couch has put together a six-course menu of contemporary offerings designed to pair with select wines from this Sunny Slope estate winery. The dinner, to be held in the restaurant’s mezzanine, costs $100 per person (tax and gratuity not included). Seating is limited for this pre-pay event. To reserve a spot, call The Dish at (208) 344-4231

Menu

Johnnycake with vindaloo bacon, fried quail egg, warmed frisée and apple vinegar syrup — paired with Zhoo Zhoo Deep Pink (bone-dry rosé)

Smoked porcini velouté with pan-seared weathervane scallop — paired with Zhoo Zhoo Veloute (unoaked chardonnay)

Pork belly and kimch’i steamed bun with cranberry hoisin — paired with Hells Canyon 2010 Merlot

Cork-beaten octopus on a seep crisp with goat cheese feta-yogurt sauce — paired with Hells Canyon 2007 Idaho Chardonnay

Braised goat ragu with manchego cheesy grits and Brussels sprout gremolata — paired with Hells Canyon 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

Saigon sundae: Star anise ice cream with pineapple relish, candied cashews, candied jalapenos, whipped mascarpone and dark chocolate sauce — paired with Zhou Zhou Redhead (off-dry rosé)”

Steve Robertson, owner of Hells Canyon Winery, is an exceptional Chef and knows how to pair the wines with dinner. For those of you in Boise, do you remember Annabel’s or Mussels Fish Market? Steve owned and operated both places and held some awesome seminars on cooking that I took. Even though Steve will probably not be in the kitchen for this event, I feel confident that he will be “tasting” and matching the entrees. Knowing the talent level of the Chefs and the Winemakers, this should be an awesome evening. Cheers!
