The Buzz Coffee and Café NEW breakfast Menu!

20 Thursday Oct 2011

Posted by Bob and Robin in Food, Party Time, What's For Dinner?

I was riding along the Greenbelt this morning and it was cold. About 42 degrees F. I needed a warm cup of coffee and the Buzz was close. So I went in, got some great coffee and talked to Tommy for a while. He told me the NEW breakfast menu was due to start this weekend – Saturday, October 22 – and run during the week after that. For more information, you can always check their web page at The Buzz Coffee and Café.

In the meantime, here is the Brand New Breakfast Menu. Left-Click the graphic for a full screen view and one you can print out. From their webpage – link above – the following information is available:

BUZZ coffee and cafe is Boise’s finest coffeehouse. We are a WiFi (free Internet) hot spot and serve only fair trade certified, organic certified and shade grown coffee as well as excellent food and a great selection of beer and wine. We also have wired (Ethernet) access to the Internet.

BUZZ is open from 6 am to 9 pm Monday thru Thursday, 6am to 10pm Friday, 8am to 10pm Saturday and 8 am to 3 pm on Sunday (Breakfast Served All Day on Sunday). We are located at 2999 Lakeharbor Blvd (State Street at Lake Harbor in the Idaho Athletic Club).
(208)344-4321 Café
(208)473-7147 FAX
Email us at: BuzzCoffee@cableone.net or BuzzWine@cableone.net

I think Robin and I will be there on Saturday morning to try the new menu. Oh, one other thing! Tommy said that yes, indeed, Tommy’s Meatloaf will be on the menu, too! This is a wonderful meatloaf. Come and try the all new menu. We have never had a bad meal there – some better than others, but nothing bad. To rate the meals out of 5, definitely a 5! Cheers and hope to see you there.

Idaho Farmers Markets

05 Monday Sep 2011

I’d like to say that the Boise Saturday Market is the only one in Idaho. But in fact, it is not. At last count, there are about 28 different farmer’s markets in Idaho. Here is, at best, a partial listing for Idaho Farmers Markets. If you know of others, please go to the site listed and update or add to the listing. I have no control over how markets get listed or if the list is even up-to-date. Cheers!

Wedding Anniversary Dinner Menu

10 Sunday Jul 2011

Posted by Bob and Robin in Anniversary, Dessert, Food, Main Dish, Photos, Photos By: Bob Young, What's For Dinner?, Wine and Food Festivals

Oh yes. This little guy was sitting in our backyard just singing away and telling us that July 14 is quickly approaching. July 14? Our 28th Wedding Anniversary and yes, Bastille Day! So Robin says look in the wine cellar for some 1983 good wines – as if there is anything else. And she also suggests the following menu for dinner. Now this sounds great!!

1983 Porto Hutcheson Port
Original – $11.99, Today $197.00

1983 Mercury Clos des Barraults
Original – $15.95, Today $100.00

——————————

Here is the start to our Anniversary Dinner.

——————————

28th Wedding Anniversary Dinner
July 14, 2011

Cod with Tomato Shrimp Sauce

Serves: 2

Ingredients:
2 T Crème Fraîche or Sour Cream
Minced Chives
2 t Sun-Dried Tomato Paste
1/8 t Cayenne
1 t Lemon Juice
1 oz Salad Shrimp, cooked
2 4-oz Cod fillets

Directions:
Mix the 2 tablespoons of Crème Fraîche, or sour cream, with the chives, tomato paste, cayenne and lemon juice. Fold in the shrimp and serve as a sauce over micro waved steamed cod fillets.

——————————

Chocolate Chip Cheesecakes

Serves:12

Ingredients:
12 1¾ inch Fluted Paper Cups
12 cup Muffin Tin
1 lg Graham cracker, finely crushed
1 x-lg Egg
¼ c Sugar
¼ t Vanilla Extract
1 8-oz pkg Philadelphia Cream Cheese or Mascarpone, softened
2 T semisweet mini Chocolate Chips

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350º F

Place the paper cups in the muffin tin and distribute the crushed graham cracker among the cups.

Put all of the ingredients, except the chocolate chips, into a food processor and blend thoroughly, or beat the egg, sugar and vanilla together with a whisk and then incorporate the cheese.

Fold in the chocolate chips and then spoon the blended mixture into the cups. Bake for 15 minutes or until the edges are set and the center is still moist.

Remove the cheesecakes and let cool. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

——————————

Now doesn’t that sound like a great beginning to our anniversary party? Cheers!

Easter Party 2011

25 Monday Apr 2011

It does not seem like Easter without a White Lily. So here is one that Robin got. It is so fragrant and the blooms are very large.

And too, it does not seem like Spring without the Tulips. So to celebrate the seasons, we had our family, and extended family, gathering around the dinner table. Robin, Marnie, Mac, Sophie, Chris, Maddy and Margaret , who stopped in to say hello. So with that, here are some photos of the event. And here is the Wine List and the Menu. Do enjoy the wines, the menu and the photos. Cheers!

Chris, Maddy and Sophie.
Chris and Sophie: I want to see the photos you took!
Maddy: We are looking forward to your Birthday Dinner on Friday!

I guess the Rabbit was here. Look what it left. Is that a chocolate egg in there?

The Magnificent Egg Race!

Chocolate Egg being guarded! Mac and Sophie made these. Beautiful, solid, chocolate egg!

Dinner started with a Shrimp Dip.
Then the First Course was a delightful Lamb and Barley Soup.

Here is the Easter Roasted Leg of Lamb with Mint Sauce on a bed of Braised Spinach with Pine Nuts and Craisins. I did not get a photo of the Creamy Cauliflower Purée. The Green Salad was replaced with the spinach and the Minted Carrots did not appear. I don’t think anyone went away hungry. The 7 pounds of butterflied lamb is gone!!

Robin’s awesome
Easter Ricotta Tart
(Torta di Pasqua)

There is not much else to say except it is always a great and beautiful day when you are surrounded by a loving family and friends. Thanks to all who were there and participated. I think that Sophie really like the WII experience. And Chris and Maddy and Mac and Marnie were all surprised at what the Wii Fitness told them. Cheers!

I received this information yesterday. This might be a good time to purchase some items for your kitchen.

“We’re saying Good-bye to all our devoted customers and friends who have supported us these last few years during economic difficulties. Our doors will close for good on Sat, January 29th. We gave it out best shot and now Steve and I have decided to go and do the things we never had time to do before. Thank you and be sure to come in and check out our remaining inventory. Everything is reduced 40 and 50 percent. We also have furniture and fixtures — everything must go!”

The Pottery Gourmet Kitchen is located at 811 W Bannock in Boise. The sale starts today, 12 January and runs through the end of the month. We are sorry to see them close. They have some awesome Polish pottery items. Cheers!

And that it was at Flying Pizza Pizzaria on State Street in Boise. Margaret and Robin standing below the Flying Pie Pizzaria sign that announces her day! Even though it was rainning, 0.19″ per hour, it was a great party and we thank Flying Pie Pizzaria for the opportunity to make Robin’s Special Pizza. But here, look at the photos and see the fun all of us had. And when you are in Boise, stop in at Flying Pie Pizzaria for a pizza, salad and fantastic beer!

Here is Robin – my Robin – getting her instructions on what is going to happen.

But then there was more than one Robin who arrived for “Their Day“. Actually, there were four Robins that showed up. How great!!

Then there is always the prep work to making any dinner or pizza or whatever.

Fondle the pizza dough!

Throw the pizza to get the most stretch in the dough.

Putting the goodies on the pizza!

Marine and Robin. Robin’s pizza is in the center.

Jalapeno pizza!

Marnie, Robin and Maddy!

Margaret, Chris’ friend Nate, Chris, Marnie, Robin and Maddy.

Bob and Margaret

Robin, Bob and O Holy Night brew!

The Nectar of the Gods!

Yes it was an exciting afternoon. Great family, great friends, great beer and great pizza! Thank-You all!

Robin’s Day At Flying Pie Pizzaria!

19 Sunday Dec 2010

Posted by Bob and Robin in Flying Pie Pizza, Food, Food Prep, Things To Do, What's For Dinner?

Yessireee Bub! It’s Robin’s Day at Flying Pie Pizzaria tomorrow, Sunday! So what does that mean? She gets to make her own pizza!! And we get to party, Dutch Treat, of course. We will be at the store on State Street in Boise, tomorrow, Sunday at 2:00pm. We have 6 other people coming. We’d love to have you there to join in on the festivities. Maybe even Joe and his family can make it. Maybe Joe? We’d love to see you all there.

If you can, 2:00pm at the Flying Pie Pizzaria, 4320 State Street, Boise – just as the graphic on the left says.

It’s been a pretty good day today – The University of Delaware defeated Georgia Southern for the NCAA Div 1 semifinals and now they go to Texas on 7 Jan 2010 to play Eastern Washington and that should be a great game for the NCAA National Title. And Troy is sticking it to Ohio 43-14 in the 4th quarter. (I thought Ohio had all these Hot-Shot football teams that don’t like to play the “little guys”. See what happens?) Fresno State had their heads handed to them. ): DircTV is back on the air and my phone finally found the satelite. So, if you can make the pizza party tomorow, that will be great, too. Maybe fill the shop? Cheers! And bring your cameras.

Last night we had a delightful dinner with Wes Malvini, among other things, now working for Idaho’s Bounty. Wes has been marketing director for Holesinsky Winery and Davis Creek Winery (both wineries in Idaho), film maker, writer, author, wine maker and vineyard manager. He has been busy! It was great to have Wes over for dinner and to talk to him about his achievements and future endeavors. Here is what we had for dinner. The photo to the left is the table setting Robin created. It’s a cold, rainy day. 52 degrees, winds E@5mph, humidity 94% and 0.34″ of rain. YUK!

Guess it’s time for the soup bowl. Here is a recipe for Berryhill and Co‘s Tomato Basil Soup which is awesome! Thanks to Chef John Berryhill for sharing this recipe which comes from his blog. Berryhill and Co, for those of you not in Boise, is one of Boise’s finest restaurants. If you are ever in Boise, it is well worth a trip to eat there. Try this soup! The photo here is actually the soup. Cheers.

So this morning, while I was contemplating the Bronco victory in Virginia, Boise’s hot air balloons were taking off over Julia Davis Park in the center of town. There is also the question of What’s For Dinner? I asked Robin if she wanted chicken. She said yes with some curried rice. Her wish is my command!

Le Menu

Braised Chicken in White Wine and Pomegranate Molasses
with

Sauteed Leeks and Garlic in Orange Infused Olive Oil

Curried Rice
with
Red and Green Tomatoes and Summer Squash

Serve all of this with a wonderful 2008 Casablanca Valley Chile Root:1 Chardonnay and you have a wonderful Saturday evening meal. Cheers and

GO BRONCOS!!
