concert jam, Jen Drake, the Buzz

buzz_logo_cafeIt is great to have Jen Drake – viola – bring some of the local philharmonic talent to the Buzz again this year for the 2nd year of Concert Jam! I think this program will be scheduled about every other month. If that is wrong, I will let you know. Such a great event and thanks to Jen Drake for “directing” the music. And the really great thing – If you play an instrument, bring it! Sit down with these folks! Have fun and play your heart out! Ages? If you can read music and you play an instrument, you can join in on the fun. I think the youngest this time was a 14 year old young lady on the violin. Such a great experience for them to play with such great talent. Enjoy these photos from the evening. Hope to see you at the next one! Cheers!

Here is another venue for the philharmonic group.

Here is another venue for the philharmonic group. This month the music will be Brahms. The program varies each month. Well worth the $10 donation. Robin and I will be there.

10Sept2013_1_The-Buzz-Club_MaggieAnother in a series of good wine dinners at the Buzz last night. Some very interesting wines, presented blind, and good food. Our friend Maggie, pictured here, came along with us and it was great to see that she was feeling chipper enough to join us. We always like to have her join us in these adventures. I
This was a good meal. Not particularly the best I have had at the Buzz, but very good. I am very salt conscious, and there were two dishes that could have had a little more salt and/or pepper. I will list those dishes below. All in all ….. a fun night with good friends and good food. Glad to hear and see that Bailey is doing OK after her bike fall. Enjoy these photos of the dinner and the commentary. Cheers! Left-Click any of these photos to see them larger.

This review may sound harsh to some. It is not. Cristi and I talked about some of these comments and I think she accepted them as positive. Like I stated at the start, I really try to watch our salt intake, even if the food seems to need additional salt. And I know Cristi tries very hard to limit the amount of salt in her dishes. This was just one of those times when a little more would have enhanced the dishes. It was still a good dinner. Hope to see you at the next one. Cheers!!!

fire storm, great friends, pot luck, two fires, vegetable platter

11Aug2013_2_Captains-Shack_Fire-Storm_Clouds-ColorGreat food and great friends gathered at The Buzz in Boise to convey our condolences to Cristi and her family for her loss. We were sitting outside and the fire storm from about 50 miles east of Boise and 25 miles north, presented an imposing image of the vastness of the fire. This morning on NPR I heard were the combined two fires was about 120,000 acres. Yuk!
As we gathered, we shared food as a means of bonding our friendships. Everyone who attended, was asked to bring some type of pot luck. And, if you desired, bring a wine. We took a 2010 Fujishin Family Cellars Viognier, a corn pie and grilled fresh herbed zucchini. (Photos are below) Others brought all kinds of wines, BBQ pork, beans, soup, vegetable platter, hot artichoke dip, brownies and different breads. It was a good gathering to show the extent of our friendship for Cristi and her family. Here are a few more photos. Left-Click any of the photos to see enlarged.

02June2013_1_Triangle-Sweet_Sign78 degrees! Light, puffy, Big Sky clouds. Light winds. Great company! We met Barb and Terry Knivila at the Triangle Inn in Sweet, Idaho. (Just go there and smell the sweetness of the wild Rambling Roses.) A fun place to visit and to have a meal. We had a great breakfast as pictured below. Friendly people; all had smiles! And they came to our table and talked to us. A good experience. And the food was good, too. From Boise, take Hiway 55 to Horseshow Bend and the Hiway 52 to Emnmett. The Triangle Inn is at the Sweet/Ola intersection. Just look at what we had and please VOTE above. Left-Click any of these photos to see enlarged. Thanks and Cheers!

24May2013_1_Captains-Shack_Chantrill_GenoAndDebra_BestIt is always a “great start” to any event when you are joined by friends. Geno and Debra (pictured here) were in town, so we had them over for a grilled lamb dinner. The weather was super good and we ate outside. Most of the food was local, too. The lamb was and the onions and asparagus were from Washington. The wine was from California. Still, a delightful time. I even helped Debra with her blog. She is doing fine with it. So here are some photos of the food that we had. Enjoy and please cast your VOTE above. Thanks. Cheers! Left-Click any of these photos to see enlarged.

Chandlers-Logo-JpegWe went to Chandler’s Steak House this past Wednesday to a Wine Meet-Up Group party. The food was good, although I think over-priced. We did not get it, but the seafood appetizer platter was $90.00. We did get the crab cakes though, and they were good. Not over filled with bread crumbs. It’s just hard to beat a good, Eastern Shore, Blue Crab crab cake. That’s my real benchmark. Robin and I each decided on a tuna appetizer. Great presentations and both dishes tasted good, although I liked the Tower of Tuna the best. Left-Click the photos to see enlarged and enjoy the photos. Please VOTE above. Thanks.

Happy Birthday To "the Buzz"!

16 Sunday Jan 2011

Although the fog came in on cat feet and created an eerie glow and a mysterious feeling of quiet, it was great to celebrate the 3rd Birthday of the Buzz! Congratulations to Chisti and Tommy!

Oh yes. Something else. If you need to re-supply your pantry or cookie jar with those scrumptious Girl Scout cookies, and everyone absolutely does need to re-supply your Girl Scout cookie supply, make your way to the Buzz, have Tommy make you a great cup of coffee and a sandwich, ask him for a pen and fill in Bailey’s order form for at least 12 boxes of your favorite case of Girl Scout cookies. That would make Bailey very, very happy. And if Bailey is happy …………. But for now, here is the Birthday Dinner! Thanks Cristi and Tommy for three great years.
