2010 has started out to be “not good” for two restaurants in the Boise Area.

First, was the total destruction of the Barbacoa Restaurant on Park Center in Boise to an early morning fire. As the Idaho Statesman reported, “Barbacoa on the lake at ParkCenter wasn’t just a restaurant, it was an experience – part art gallery, part museum with sensational ice-tinis and guacamole prepared fresh at your table.

At about 5 a.m. Saturday, an employee cleaning the restaurant noticed smoke and called 911.

The fire started in the attic, spread quickly and collapsed the roof soon after firefighters got inside, a Boise police spokeswoman said. No one was injured as firefighters recognized the danger and moved outside.”

And then there is the closing of Rachel K’s Bistro in Eagle. Sadly, we only found time to visit the restaurant only once in the past month, and that was an awesome and delicious visit. We wish Rachel and her husband the best in their future endeavors and hope they will keep us informed as to what they are doing.
