The "Spoon"

The “Spoon”

It’s winter! Snow in the mountains where it should be. In the high 20’s at night. And the Boise Farmers Market has moved inside at 8th and Fulton in the Linen Building. Free parking for the first hour, but you will need to get a receipt for that hour at the pay booth. They are open each Saturday now, through December 19th, from 9am – 2pm. Then we go through “Produce Withdrawl”. You can follow the BFM on their website at Boise Farmers Market. Be sure to sign up for their newsletter on their web page. Here are two photos that I took this morning at The Market. I have my specific vendors who I look for: Meadowlark Farms, Purple Sage Produce, Rollingstone Chevre, Acme Bakeshop, Desert Mountain Farms, True Roots Produce, Gaston’s Bakery, Next Generation Organics, The Mushroom Farm and Neckar Coffee, to name a few. There are more. Left-Click any of the photos to see them enlarged. These are panoramic photos and quite large.

The Boise Farmers Market

The Boise Farmers Market

I was asked this morning, “Why do you come to the market?” I told him: I go to see the people. To visit with the farmers. To support our local farmers as much as possible. To make “my rounds” at the above listed farmers. And I miss the Market between December 20th and March 1st. I totally believe in Buying Local and I support that philosophy as much as possible.

The Boise Farmers Market open indoors now through Dec 19th.

Boise Farmers Market, fresh herbs, fresh vegetables, waffles

11Apr2015_1_Boise-Farmers-Market_SignMaybe drizzly and somewhat blustery, but at least no snow or tornadoes or other such weather offerings! The crowd seemed to be down a little. Probably because of the stormy weather. Just the “die hards” ventured out to the market. We did get our fresh eggs from Meadowlark Farms, stock bones and fresh sliced pork belly from Homestead Farms, our weekly fix of sourdough bread from Acme Bake Shop – there are hot links to all of these venders in the sidebar. We also bought mushrooms, sorrel, watercress and fiddlehead ferns from The Mushroom Ranch. Enjoy these photos of the market this morning. Left-Click any of them to see enlarged. Cheers!

05Oct2014_1_Farners-Market-Dinner_Gridiron-SignYes it was! And many thanks to all of the Boise Farmers Market producers for supplying the awesome meal items and the Saint Lawrence Gridiron, at 703 W Bannock in Boise (208) 433-5598, for supplying the space, the Waite Staff and an awesome Chef! Just a super, super night!
I do believe that this was the first of dinners like this to raise funds for the Boise Farmers Market. And I do hope that they continue to do this Fund Raising Dinner next year and many years to follow. When you look at the menu and photos below, you will see the superb meal that we had. Congratulations to all who worked so hard to make this a success! Left-Click any of these photos to see them enlarged.

Colombian coffee, free range pizza, lunch, neckar coffee, New Boise Farmers Market

30Nov2013_1b_New-Boise-Farmers-Market_FB-ImageThe end of the Farmers Market is in sight. So sad! It has been a good season so far as we are concerned. Great indoor venues for these cold Boise, winter days. The new location for the summer months at 10th and Grove is also great.
We visited two new vendors today, Free Range Pizza (pictured here) and Neckar Coffee. Both were very good. Enjoyed the pizza – thin crust. Slightly crispy, but also a chewy interior. Good flavors and flavor combinations. Went very well with the coffee we had, a fresh ground, full bodied Guatemalan coffee. Great job to both vendors. If you are at the market or you see them at a function, be sure to get some of their product, either coffee or pizza or both. You will be pleased as were we. Cheers!
